Starting pay for teachers in Alabama higher than average According to the Southern Regional Education Board, Alabama is a leader in starting salary for teachers in not only the regional averages, but the national averages as well. According to the SREB, the starting salary for teachers in Alabama is around $36,144, which is more than $3,500 greater than the national average beginning pay.
