Press Release
January 7, 2011

On September 17, 2010 the Dothan Police Department responded to a theft of property at Fred’s (2146 South Oates Street). The theft did not involve the business, rather a customer shopping there. The victim placed her purse in a shopping cart and became distracted, leaving the purse behind. The purse was then taken by a black male wearing all black who was washing windows at the time. We would like the help of our local media and community in identifying the man who was recorded committing the crime by video surveillance. We ask that any business owners who have allowed an independent window washer to service their business take a close look at this individual. Police are asking anyone with information about the case or identity of the suspect to call the Dothan Police Department or CrimeStoppers 334-793-7000.

Copies of the surveillance are available for the media at the front desk of the Police Department.

Gregory J. Benton
Chief of Police
