PROFILE – Officer Thomas Davis

We salute another outstanding wiregrass citizen in our profile section,officer Thomas Davis.Officer Davis has been with the Dothan Police Department for 20 years(April 1990-present),his tour of duty has consisted of being part of the four man special response team(Housing Urban Development-H.U.D),where he received several recommendations and AT-A-Boy letters from the serving police chief and supervisors.

Later in his years of tenure he was transferred from the special response team to the D.A.R.E team and later became a D.A.R.E instructor,graduating from Macon,Ga. The law enforcement agents of the state of Georgia contacted officer Davis and his supervisor to give him praise for a job well done during the stressful 2 weeks of the D.A.R.E instructor classes.Officer Davis did not stop there;he went to an advanced D.A.R.E instructor program and graduated at the naval base in Huntsville,Al. with high accolades from the instructors.

After leaving the D.A.R.E program officer Davis became one of Dothans first school resource officers.He remained with the S.R.O unit for 10 years at Dothan High School.During those years he dealt with over 1500 students.Officer Davis became a S.R.O practitioner and later became a S.R.O instructor(which enabled him to the S.RO classes to other officers).Officer Davis became Dothan’s 1st public information officer(P.I.O) after transferring from the S.R.O unit-He is presently employed in the office of public information.Officer Davis received several recommendations and medals while at Dothan High School (Officer of the year 2001,Medal of Merit 2005,lifesavers medal along with a badge and recommendation letter from the Dothan Fire Dept.2005).Officer Davis was also nominated as Man of the Year by the community 1998-99.He has received countless awards and letters from the police chief,fire chief,commissioners,doctors and different organizations during his 20 year tenure.

Officer Davis is a consummate family man with a wife,3 children and 3 grandchildren.We salute this outstanding citizen of the wiregrass in our continuing profile of outstanding wiregrass citizens.
